Bulgarian School Otets Paissii welcomes students to its 2016-2017 school year!
Classes will be offered in Bulgarian language, folk dance, history, geography, culture and traditions.
We are happy to announce that the Otets Paissii school has been licensed by the Bulgarian Department of Education and Science, and is now an official Bulgarian school abroad. As part of the accreditation, the school will receive funding to help offset costs for tuition, school supplies and teaching aids.
Spring Semester: January 8 to May 21 (no classes on April 16 and 23)
Classes are held every Sunday:
9:30 am to 12:00 pm (Group 1)
9:30 am to 1:30 pm (Group 2)
Children 4 and older with limited or no Bulgarian language skills
9:30 to 10:30 am — folk dance
10:30 am to 12:00 pm — Bulgarian language
Children 7 and older with some language skills
9:30 to 10:30 am — Bulgarian language
10:30 am to 12:00 pm — folk dance
12:00 to 12:45 pm — Bulgarian language
12:45 to 1:30 pm — Social sciences
There will be a nominal sign-up fee that will be confirmed soon. Textbooks, notebooks and the majority of the tuition fees will already be covered.
To register, please email BGSchoolPITT@gmail.com by September 4, 2016, and provide the students’ names, ages, and a brief description of their Bulgarian language proficiency level (for new students).
Language and social studies classes are taught by Vanya Zankina, an experienced instructor who has written textbooks for children ranging from kindergarten age through high school. All folk dances classes are taught by Aleksandar Zankin, a renowned Bulgarian folk dance instructor and choreographer with 40 years of experience.
