BMNECC Busy Hosting Many Tour Groups

« Previous Page

The BMNECC regularly conducts programs that educate the public about Bulgarian and Macedonian culture. In 2010 alone, we welcomed visitors from 44 states and 25 countries. We're currently busy hosting hundreds of visitors from dozens of tour groups and organizations.

We are proud to collaborate with Rivers of Steel, a local organization managed by the Steel Industry Heritage Corporation, which brings local, national and international visitors to our facility as part of its organized tours of the Steel Valley and greater Pittsburgh.

Visitors include groups interested in local history and culture, out-of-state mystery tour groups and social clubs such as the Red Hat Society. Other visitors include school groups, teachers, community and urban development leaders, dance and music instructors and ethnographers.

We offer a range of information tailored to the interests of each group. Generally, we present historical, cultural and geographic information about Bulgaria and Macedonia and provide a history of the Center and its importance to the region. We conduct tours of the Center's museum area, teach the groups a simple Bulgarian dance and serve an authentic ethnic meal. Visitors are welcome to purchase hand-crafted Bulgarian items from our gift shop.

The Center especially loves hosting young people. Thanks to a generous grant from the Grable Foundation, the Center has developed comprehensive programs especially for students. Last year we hosted a dozen groups of middle school students from the area. Students love learning how to write their names in the Cyrillic alphabet, and learning a simple Bulgarian song and dance!

If your organization is interested in touring or renting the Bulgarian Center, please contact us at 412-461-6188 or send us an email: bmnecc@gmail.com

We also welcome you to volunteer to help us during these tour group visits!
