The Cultural Center has been a valuable part of the social, economic and cultural fabric of Pittsburgh for nearly 90 years, collaborating and cooperating with local and national organizations that share similar values of cultural preservation, education, artistic endeavor, and community development.

The Center

  • Has organized food and winter coat drives to benefit local shelters and food banks
  • Is involved with local boroughs to help revitalize the urban landscape and spur economic development
  • Collaborates with the Allegheny Regional Asset District, the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, Destination Greater Pittsburgh, Visit Pittsburgh, and the Rivers of Steel National Heritage organization
  • Takes part in The Pittsburgh Foundation’s Pittsburgh Gives Initiative
  • Consults with many area ethnic and cultural groups, such as the Carpatho-Rusyn Society, the Japan America Society of Pennsylvania, the Alliance Francaise, the National Slovak Society, the Turkish Cultural Center, the Vietnamese culture organization, and the Pittsburgh Folk Festival to exchange ideas and explore collaborative opportunities
  • Hosts and provides information to groups such as the Allegheny Intermediate Unit of teachers, Pittsburgh Public Schools, universities, the National Ethnomusicology Society, the National Historic Preservation Organization, Road Scholar, and the Rivers of Steel National Heritage organization
  • Makes presentations at genealogy workshops and historical societies
  • Participates in the Heinz History Center’s Heritage Holidays celebration, The Rivers of Steel Heritage Markets, the McKeesport International Festival, and many local artists markets
  • Provides Bulgarian linguistic, dialect, and cultural direction to local theatrical companies
